On Friday morning, I took a slow stroll to King's Park, crossed this bridge from the apartment where we stayed.
Along the way, there were some lovely flowers
South African War Memorial
The first war memorial erected in the park honours Western Australian soldiers killed in the Boer War (1899-1902). The Krupp field gun was captured at Bothaville and presented to the State by the British Government in 1906.
Bali Memorial
Commemorates the loss and suffering of the Bali tragedy which occurred on 12th October 2002
Queen Victoria Statue
Presented to the people of Western Australia by Mr A Stoneham in 1902. The two guns dated 1843 may have been used in the Crimean War. Those dated 1813 and 1814 may have been used by Wellington's army at Waterloo.
Cenotaph
An 18m granite obelisk commemorates all Western Australian who gave their lives in the service of their country. The internal walls of the undercrift list the names of more than 7000 members of the services killed in action or who died of wounds and illness in WWI. Bronze plaques on the outside walls of the undercroft list the names of nearly 4000 Australians who lost their lives in WWII. Names of the fallen from subsequent conflicts are also included.
